Summary0000311: Burn damage is dealt far more than once per second
Description

I was talking with users on the discord server today about flamethrower, and I decided I would test out its damage. While I was testing it on 1.4, someone mentioned that the burn effect is dealt once per second. When I looked back to my game, I realized that it was certainly faster than 1/s. I restarted the waves and let the flamethrower apply burn to a few enemies before selling it. When I observed the burn at 1x speed, it appeared to trigger at a rate more like 4/sec or 5/sec.

After a bit of back and forth, I was corrected by members who have examined the code before and confirmed that it was 1/sec. I'm not sure what's going on here. The patch notes say nothing about this, and it's reproducible no matter which level I go to.

I'm not so sure this is a bug. However, I think it's probably worth reporting as one.

Steps To Reproduce

Use a flamethrower. Observe the rate at which the burning status effect damages enemies. It is far greater than once per second.

Additional Information

A little counting and some math tells me the rate is 4/s or 3/s. Probably not 5/s.

It does not deal damage once per second, I have never said so. It deals N damage per second and is accurate in terms of DPS.
What is the exact issue with flamethrower? Does it deal way too much damage because of higher damage frequency?

No, there is no problem now. This stemmed from a misunderstanding between myself and some contradictory sources of information.
The flamethrower does not deal too much damage, it's good (not to say that it is 'a good tower,' but... that's the community's can of worms, not mine).

(P.S.: New update is great. Thanks for the level-headed response to the, quite frankly, bombastic community response to 1.6.)
