once you max out your normal research, you unlock this branch of research, once you manage to collect 10k bit dust, you can gain an access to the 2nd prestige layer, maybe call it "format" or "reboot"

doing that reset gives you byte dust based on your total spent bit dust, additionally it increases the limit of most researches by 10% (except ones that could be abused like crafting discount or map size), but it resets your endless research, however you keep your normal research to not affect leaderboards

byte dust upgrades cannot be upgraded with research tickets, you can only spend byte dust on them
those upgrades are either very powerful or qol, for example +25% prestige ticket gain, +25% loot rarity or +50% gp gain, +50% bd droprate from time (it's trash rn, maybe give it a chance), or even more accelerators, but also you can get useful perks like being able to open more boxes/tile packs at once, increase the amount of spins for the lucky shot (capped at some point), get more quest slots, or maybe even gain an access to even higher speeds than x4 (probably that might be useless on weak devices)

the limit of these upgrades is based on total resets, so it can keep going forever, but focusing on 1 won't matter if it turned out it's the most op out of all upgrades
